Race Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 2019 Tancred Stakes sets up to be a fascinating race with Avilius lining up as the red hot favourite after a dominant display last week. Interestingly McEvoy, who rode Avilius last week has jumped ship and rides Red Cardinal here.<\/p>\n

Race Speed<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ace High <\/strong>should run them along at a good clip here, with Vengeur Masque <\/strong>the other likely leader. Ventura Storm <\/strong>and Patrick Erin <\/strong>are likely to be the next pair, with Muntahaa <\/strong>likely to push forward off the inside draw. Avilius <\/strong>is likely to be right in the middle of the field and Red Cardinal <\/strong>will likely go back from the wide draw.<\/p>\n

  1. AVILIUS ($1.60<\/a>)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The obvious favourite here after a completely dominant performance last week in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes. That was an important run for Avilius, not only because she flopped the start prior, but it was also his maiden Group 1 win. Deserved favourite after last weeks effort.<\/p>\n

    1. RED CARDINAL ($6.50<\/a>)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Looks to be the key danger to Avilius after scoring two consecutive wins this prep \u2013 both at Rosehill. Has ran in some high-quality races since coming to Aus and has performed admirably in them. Has really found his mojo this prep and if the favourite has any chinks in his armour, he can be the one to finish on top.<\/p>\n

      1. BIG DUKE ($12.00<\/a>) <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Hasn\u2019t scored a win since 2017 but has been close on many occasions, particularly this prep where he\u2019s finished second twice. Last week just found one too good in Midterm but otherwise a nice lead in run for this race. No doubt raring to go for this one and could be the knockout chance.<\/p>\n

          Despite the short price, Avilius looks far too hard to beat coming off last weeks dominant display. Was likely flat the week before, but prior to that could not fault the form. The race overall looks weak and if Avilius brings his best form, he will be winning this race.<\/p>\n
