OVERVIEW<\/b><\/h3>\n

The JJ Atkins is back again this year for the 2-year-olds and it looks set to be another cracking edition of the race. Rothfire lines up as the favourite here but in this field, which includes eight last start winners, it\u2019s anyone’s race. Unbeaten Macroura looks to be the top challenger, along with Wisdom of Water who has been setting the Gold Coast circuit alight since resuming this prep.<\/span><\/p>\n

SPEED MAP<\/b><\/h3>\n

Expecting a genuine tempo to be set here, with Rothfire and Wild Ruler set to challenge for the early lead. Macroura draws barrier 2 and might be able to use that to his advantage to be prominent. Wisdom of Water and The Drinks Cart won\u2019t be too far away either, both drawing middle barriers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    Rothfire looks like a deserving favourite here after dominating Isotope and WIld Ruler (who are no slouches) in an all the way victory at Eagle Farm. That takes his overall record to five wins from six starts. Looks to get an ideal run on the speed again here and should be fighting out the finish.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. OVERLORD (<\/b>$18<\/b><\/a>)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Overlord was very good two back behind Peltzer, finishing powerfully to finish second. Last start got to the back again as favourite and put in another terrific sprint home, but found Peltzer too good once again. Like him out to 1400m here and he could be an improver here.<\/span><\/p>\n

      1. MACROURA (<\/b>$6.50<\/b><\/a>)<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Talented filly, who is now unbeaten from three starts in her career. Last start she raced at Rosehill and proved far too good, displaying a strong acceleration to score a dominant 1.5L victory. Can use barrier 2 to her advantage and sit prominent here.<\/span><\/p>\n

        BLUEY\u2019S PICK<\/b><\/h3>\n

          Happy to stick with the favourite here on the back of a dominant first up performance at Eagle Farm. He dominated some quality runners and can improve on that run second up here. Looks to get another good run up on the speed and might be able to lead all the way again. Plenty to like.<\/span><\/p>\n
